Module : Fonctions
Exercice
Donnez le domaine et la définition de \(f \circ g\) et \(g \circ f\).
(a) \(\displaystyle f(x) = {1\over x}\) et \(g(x) = \sqrt{x^2 + 1}\)
Réponse
\((f\circ g)(x)=\dfrac{1}{\sqrt{x^2+1}}\), \(\mbox{Dom}(f\circ g)=\mathbb{R}\) et \((g\circ f)(x)=\sqrt{\frac{1}{x^2}+1}\), \(\mbox{Dom}(g\circ f)=\mathbb{R}_0\)
Aide
Pour trouver \(f\circ g\), on remplace \(x\) par \(g(x)\) dans la formule de \(f\).
Pour trouver \(g\circ f\), on remplace \(x\) par \(f(x)\) dans la formule de \(g\).
Solution
Le domaine de \(f\) est \(\mathbb{R}_0\) et le domaine de \(g\) est \(\mathbb{R}\).
On calcule
\((f\circ g)(x)=f(g(x))=f(\sqrt{x^2+1})=\dfrac{1}{\sqrt{x^2+1}}.\)
Le domaine de cette fonction est \(\mathbb{R}\).
On a aussi
\((g\circ f)(x)=g(f(x))=g\left(\frac{1}{x}\right) =\sqrt{\left(\frac{1}{x}\right)^2+1}=\sqrt{\frac{1}{x^2}+1}.\)
Le domaine de cette fonction est \(\mathbb{R}_0\).
